Friends of the Earth (FoE) have been told not to repeat misleading anti-fracking claims that the environmental non-governmental organisation made public in a leaflet distributed in northern England, writes Anamaria Deduleasa.

The warning came after shale gas explorer Cuadrilla Resources complained to the UK’s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA). The leaflet, which claimed fracking chemicals could pollute drinking water, cause cancer, increase the risk of asthma and hit house prices, was distributed in a region where Cuadrilla is aiming to start a fracking campaign.
