Italian operator Eni has been warned by the UK safety regulator over failures in company procedures for inspecting small bore instrument tubing assemblies, including poor staff training, which increased the risk of hydrocarbon leaks.

The warning covers the company’s Douglas facilities, situated in Liverpool Bay in the Irish Sea.

A Health & Safety Executive (HSE) improvement notice said Eni did not have adequate procedures to ensure that a deterioration in the condition of small bore instrument tubing assemblies could be detected and remedied in good time.
