The vessel will be mobilised in late May at the US-based contractor’s local fabrication yard in Batam Island, Indonesia, to carry out its maiden construction and heavy-lifting work at the Inpex-operated Ichthys liquefied natural gas project off Western Australia, which Dickson descibes as “the largest project that is ongoing in the industry today”. This job alone is expected to contribute around $800 million to McDermott’s revenue stream this year.

McDermott has lined up at least two jobs for its new Derrick Lay Vessel 2000, for which a naming ceremony was held in April at Singapore yard Keppel Offshore & Marine.
