The government department has been given a fresh Display Energy Certificate ‘C’ rating on its headquarters building in central London.

Although the rating is only half way along the scale, with ‘A’ denoting the highest standard of energy efficiency, the administration has come a long way since moving into the new offices.

In 2008, when DECC took up residence at 3 Whitehall Place, the building was bottom of the pile with a ‘G’ energy rating.
