The fossil (pictured), believed to be a plesiosaur, is currently in the hands of scientists and technicians at the Royal Tyrell Museum of Palaeontology in Drumheller, Alberta. They hope to confirm the specimen by early December.

“This is a very rare find. It’s a long-necked plesiosaur, which is a marine reptile with a very long neck, small head and short body,” said the museum’s director of preservation and research, Don Brinkman.
