A Polish geologist has made a spectacular discovery in Egypt’s Western Desert – a World War 2 fighter plane that had been lost, in almost every way, to the sands of time.
Experts believe the pilot of the RAF Kittyhawk P-40 was Flight Sergeant Dennis Copping, 24, who was never seen again after failing to return to base in June 1942.
