The Balmoral Subsea Test Centre, covering 800 square metres, will have a 40-tonne capacity overhead crane and equipment to remotely monitor and operate 14 new and upgraded test vessels when fully operational, says chairman and managing director Jim Milne.

Construction crews had to blast into Aberdeen’s famed granite substrata to accommodate the vessels, which will be used to test subsea equipment to depths of 10,000 metres (32,800 feet) equivalent and pressures up to 10,000 psi (700 bar).
