Halliburton clinches new Hi-Crush proppant supply deal

Halliburton has renegotiated its proppant supply contract with US sand miner Hi-Crush Partners in a move that will lower the cost-per-tonne for the services giant while increasing the volumes that it will buy under the deal, writes Noah Brenner.

While Hi-Crush did not give concrete figures for the changes, the new deal “provides Halliburton with pricing discounts and a reduced term in exchange for increased volume requirements during an interim term,” Hi-Crush said in a filing with the US Securities & Exchange Commission.

Concurrently, Hi-Crush will re-open its sand mine in Augusta, Wisconsin, to meet growing demand for sand.

The Augusta mine has a nameplate capacity of 2.86
