When the National IOR Centre of Norway officially opened in March 2014, a very different mood prevailed in Stavanger. The oil price had not yet begun its precipitous slide, projects were queued up for sanction, rigs were in demand, and operators were eyeing high-cost developments secure in the knowledge that robust prices would make even some of the most remote exploration and production economical.
Mastering the EOR challenges
This month, the National IOR Centre will host the second instalment of its annual IOR Norway conference at the University of Stavanger, the centre’s home base. Russell McCulley checks in on the young organisation’s progress so far, and where researchers are focusing their efforts to boost recovery rates in North Sea and beyond.
