Oman's hard rock challenge
For a single project to add an extra 1 billion cubic feet of natural gas to a country’s daily output is no mean feat. But that is the target for the Khazzan field development in the Sultanate of Oman. Over the next 15 years, the first phase of the field’s development will see some 300 remote desert wells drilled into an untapped gas resource in Block 61 — a series of reservoirs which estimates indicate could together hold up to 100 trillion cubic feet of natural gas.
