Subsea electrical charge

While it may go by a variety of names, the concept of the “subsea factory” is now a widely accepted goal across the industry, as the drive to relocate offshore processing operations from platform to seabed gathers momentum. Already, subsea pumping is well established for boosting hydrocarbon production from subsea wells, and subsea gas compression — for all of its many challenges — is scheduled to become a reality offshore Norway in the Aasgard and Gullfaks fields in 2015, possibly followed by a third subsea compression project for the Ormen Lange field (see Upstream Technology, Q2 2013).
