Ultra-deep bet buoys Balmoral

The Stones project will establish a number of new industry benchmarks, not least deployment of a floating production unit in the deepest water yet (2900 metres). It also marks Shell’s first floating production storage and offloading vessel (the SBM-supplied Turritella FPSO) in the Gulf of Mexico, and the first-time pairing of a turret and disconnectable buoy with steel lazy wave risers (Upstream Technology, March 2014).
