The ultra-deepwater rig was officially named on Tuesday at the Westcon yard at Olen on Norway’s west coast, where final commissioning work has been carried out ahead of an initial drilling job for Statoil before starting on production wells at Eni’s Goliat field in the Barents Sea.
The rig is designed for working in a water depth of up to 3000 metres and harsh-environment operations.
