The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has now granted a drilling permit for wildcat well 35/2-3 to be drilled in Statoil-operated Production Licence 318 using the unit, which was recently launched after undergoing final commissioning at the Westcon yard in western Norway.
Delivery of the rig has been heavily delayed due to numerous technical and safety issues in the fabrication process and has been pulled up several times by Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) for non-conformities, most recently last month.
