APL said the system will ensure the capability of receiving and delivering a continuous uninterrupted base load supply of natural gas to New England.
The Northeast Gateway contract is APL's second order for an STL buoy system used for an offshore LNG terminal supporting Excelerate's Energy Bridge regasification vessels. The installation is planned to take place by the autumn.
In March 2006, APL revealed it was in line for the Northeast Gateway job, said at the time to be worth about $50 million.
