Indonesia’s upstream taskforce SKK Migas has approved BP’s Plan of Development for the $2.04 billion next phase of its Tangguh liquefied natural gas project in West Papua.

The UK supermajor has the green light to forge ahead with Ubadari field and Vorwata enhanced gas recovery (EGR) in the Berau, Muturi and Wiriagar working areas.

SKK Migas’ approval paves the way for the exploitation of another 1.523 trillion cubic feet of gas (271.96 million barrels of oil equivalent) via the Tangguh facilities until the existing cooperation contract expires in 2035.
