Adnoc LNG has signed liquefied natural gas supply agreements with subsidiaries of UK supermajor BP and French giant Total, booking out a majority of its LNG production capacity until the first quarter of 2022.

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) which owns Adnoc LNG said the agreements were signed by officials from BP, Total and Adnoc LNG, in the presence of Adnoc chief executive Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Total chief executive Patrick Pouyanne and BP’s boss Bob Dudley.

The agreements were signed on the sidelines of the Adipec conference in Abu Dhabi.

Adnoc said that with the signing of new agreements it continues to expand its footprint into new regions and markets and maximize its “access to new markets with strong LNG growth potential.”

“With these new supply agreements, Adnoc LNG has shown that it can react quickly and decisively to changing market conditions while ensuring the security and quality of delivery,’’ Adnoc LNG’s chief executive Fatema Al Nuaimi said.

She added that Adnoc has shown its ability “to shift from one customer to multiple customers while maintaining its plant’s high reliability and accepting ships from different customers at its jetty.”

Laurent Chevalier, Total’s vice president for Middle East’s Gas, Renewables & Power business said the “two-year LNG supply agreement contributes to the growth and flexibility of Total’s LNG portfolio and strengthens its longstanding relationship with Adnoc LNG.”

Adnoc LNG produces about 6 million tons per annum (tpa) of LNG from its facilities on Das Island off the coast of Abu Dhabi.

Adnoc LNG is majorly owned by Adnoc with a 70% share, while its shareholders Japan’s Mitsui & Co at 15%, BP with 10% and Total holding the balance 5% stake.
