US liquefied natural gas exporter Cheniere Energy has confirmed that it intends to continue expanding its Corpus Christi facility in Texas beyond stage three which received a final investment decision in June.

The company has already sold an additional 3 million tonnes per annum of LNG beyond the anticipated capacity of stage three.

In a letter to the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), Cheniere said it intends to add two more “midscale” liquefaction trains, a refrigerant storage facility and a 220,000 cubic-metre LNG storage tank.
