Cheniere Energy has initiated liquefied natural gas output from the first train of the company’s Corpus Christi stage 3 liquefaction project in the United States.

Corpus Christi stage 3 consists of a seven-train project that will add 10 million tonnes per annum of LNG.

The US LNG exporter said the commissioning process is ongoing and Cheniere expects substantial completion of Train 1 to be achieved at the end of March 2025, more than six months ahead of the guaranteed completion date.

Upon completion, US contractor Bechtel Energy will transfer care, custody and control of the completed train to Cheniere.

As of November, overall project completion stood at 75.9%.

When in full operation, the expected total production capacity of the Corpus Christi liquefaction facility will be more than 25 million tpa.
