US liquefied natural gas giant Cheniere Energy is looking to restart production and construction work at its Sabine Pass LNG facility in Louisiana after it was forced to shut in and evacuate the terminal last week ahead of Hurricane Laura's landfall.

The company said Monday it had begun executing plans to restart LNG production at the Sabine Pass site after a comprehensive facility and operational assessment revealed "no significant damage as a result of Hurricane Laura, with the facility performing as designed through the storm", according to a release.
