US supermajor Chevron has been given approval to carry out subsea installation work for the next phase of its Gorgon liquefied natural gas development in Western Australia.

Australia’s National Offshore Petroleum Safety & Environmental Management Authority (Nopsema) this week approved the operator’s environment plan for the pipeline and subsea infrastructure for the Gorgon Stage 2 development.

The environment plan covers the installation of field flowlines, pipelines, umbilicals, subsea structures, jumpers, tie-in spools and flying leads.
