Chevron made a move into the active liquefied natural gas market on Wednesday with its purchase of a combined 4 million tonnes per annum of LNG in multiple sale and purchase agreements with US LNG exporters Cheniere Energy and Venture Global LNG.

The US supermajor agreed to purchase about 1 million tpa of LNG from Cheniere’s Sabine Pass LNG, with deliveries beginning in 2026 and the full 1 million tpa being delivered by 2027.

Chevron and Sabine Pass LNG also agreed to early termination of their LNG Terminal Use Agreement.
