Chevron has signed a key agreement with Egypt's authorities to export more of its gas in Israel to the North African nation.

Fresh from Israel and Egypt last week signing a deal that aims to boost gas supplies to the European Union via two liquefied natural gas plants on Egypt’s coast, the US supermajor, which operates Leviathan, Israel’s largest gas field, agreed a memorandum of understanding with the Cairo-based government to pipe extra gas to Egypt.

On Tuesday, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Chevron chief executive Mike Wirth in the presence of Minister of Petroleum Tariq al-Mulla and a number of other company officials.
