Woodside Petroleum is grappling to rectify corrosion issues discovered during scheduled maintenance at the North West Shelf liquefied natural gas project in Australia, with the work threatening to derail deliveries of some contractual export cargoes.

The corrosion was detected during routine maintenance on Train 4, one of five liquefaction trains at the Karratha, Western Australia facility.

The Train 4 maintenance work had been scheduled from 18 June to 18 July, while Train 2 was set to undergo scheduled maintenance from 13 August to 12 September.
