The outage at the Freeport LNG facility in Texas is anticipated to cause US liquefied natural gas exports to drop by 6% in the second half of 2022, according to the July Short Term Energy Outlook released by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).

The 15 million tonnes per annum export facility was knocked offline in early June after an explosion and fire occurred.

There were no injuries, but Freeport LNG is expected to remain out of commission until October and will not return to full operating capacity until December.
