Canadian midstream company Enbridge has acquired a 30% stake in Pacific Energy Corporation’s Woodfibre LNG project and will invest $1.5 billion in its construction and operation.

Woodfibre LNG is a 2.1 million tonne per annum LNG export facility to be built near Squamish, British Columbia, Canada. The facility is intended largely to serve customers in the Far East.

Woodfibre LNG announced in April that it had issued a notice to proceed to McDermott International to begin construction, with an in-service date of 2027.
