US liquefied natural gas exporter Venture Global announced on Tuesday that the first cargo from its Calcasieu Pass export facility in Louisiana has sailed away.

The cargo was loaded onto the Yiannis, a Greek-flagged vessel leased to a subsidiary of Japan’s JERA. The vessel departed the facility on Tuesday morning, formally inaugurating the Calcasieu Pass facility.

Upstream's sister publication Tradewinds reported that the Yiannis is expected to head for Europe, to France, but has currently only set an estimated arrival date of 16 March without detailing its destination.
