New Fortress Energy (NFE) and state-owned Pemex have teamed up to exploit Pemex’s Lakach gas field offshore Mexico as a floating liquefied natural gas project.

US energy infrastructure company NFE confirmed it had finalised agreements with Pemex whereby it would develop and operate the FLNG project off the coast of Veracruz in southeast Mexico.

NFE will deploy its 1.4 million tonnes per annum Sevan Driller FLNG unit, which is currently undergoing conversion in a shipyard in Singapore, to liquefy the majority of the gas produced at Lakach.
