Golar LNG’s top executive believes it is in a strong position to secure a major contract from BP to provide a second floating liquefied natural gas vessel for the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) project offshore northwest Africa.
The supermajor has been combing the market for the best solutions to develop the next stages of GTA for much longer than originally expected, having already ordered the converted 2.5 million tonnes per annum Gimi FLNG vessel from Golar for phase one.
A decision on the preferred development concept for phase two will be made by the end of next month, according to GTA partner Kosmos Energy.
