The Philippines’ ambitions to join the ranks of global liquefied natural gas importers will have to wait longer with yet another proposed scheme hitting the skids.
Local corporation First Gen’s floating storage and regasification unit project at Batangas has been further delayed and the company has asked the floater’s supplier, BW Gas, to delay delivery from the first quarter of next year to as late as the third quarter of 2023.
First Gen confirmed via a Philippines Stock Exchange filing that it has requested the Department of Energy to extend the validity of its permit to construct, expand, rehabilitate and modify for its Batangas “interim” offshore LNG terminal from 23 September this year to 23 March 2023.
