US engineering major McDermott International has been proposed as the main contractor for a planned US$10 billion liquefied natural gas plant in Newfoundland & Labrador (NL), Canada.

If selected, the Houston-based player will provide engineering, procurement and construction management services for a company called LNG NL that, in September, unveiled a proposal to build a 4 million tonnes per annum floating liquefaction facility at Placentia Bay.
