TotalEnergies’ top executive has given a stark warning to contractors involved in its $20 billion Mozambique LNG scheme not to increase costs if the project emerges from force majeure in the coming months, otherwise the supermajor will delay the development further.
The mega-project has been on hold since early 2021 when Islamist insurgents in Cabo Delgado province attacked the town of Palma, close to the liquefied natural gas construction site at Afungi, and took over key towns including Mocimboa da Praia.
