The start of serious construction work on the $10 billion Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Train 7 project could be pushed back into the second half of this year due to financial challenges.

Upstream was told outstanding issues must be resolved before the SDC consortium of Saipem, Daewoo E&C and Chiyoda can convert a letter of intent (LoI) — awarded in September last year — to a full engineering, procurement and construction contract covering Train 7, which will have a capacity of 8 million tonnes per annum.
