Shell has no firm restart date for its flagship Prelude vessel deployed offshore Australia following a fire in December that saw production shut in — the latest incident that has plagued the world’s largest floating liquefied natural gas unit.

A spokesperson for the UK supermajor told Upstream there was not anything to update, adding: “We are working methodically through the stages in the process to recommence production with safety and stability foremost in mind.”

On 21 December, Shell again suspended production at the Prelude FLNG and launched an investigation following a fire on board in a turbine enclosure.
