Woodside Petroleum has taken a significant step forward in sanctioning the Scarborough LNG project in Western Australia by securing a 49% partner in the planned Pluto LNG expansion train.

Woodside said it has entered into an agreement with the global infrastructure investor Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) for a 49% non-operating interest in Pluto Train 2.

Pluto Train 2 is a key component of the proposed Scarborough liquefied natural gas development and will be built by Bechtel at the existing Pluto LNG onshore facility.
