Algeria’s Sonatrach has restarted production at its Skikda liquefied natural gas export facility, which was shut for 45 days after the sudden failure of a gas turbine control mechanism.

A technical incident on 11 June at the GL1K plant at the 4 million tonnes per annum Skikda onshore facility led Sonatrach — as a precaution — to perform an in-depth inspection of the turbine.

The automatic safety shutdown devices meant there was no damage to other equipment at the plant.
