US supermajor Chevron is carrying out repairs at its Gorgon liquefied natural gas project in Western Australia after finding similar cracking issues that saw another train kept offline for several months.
A Chevron spokesperson confirmed to Upstream on Wednesday that repairs were under way on the propane heat exchangers of Train 1 after “weld quality issues” were discovered during inspections.
“Appropriate safety measures are in place, with insights from Train 2 repairs contributing to a more effective inspection and repair programme,” the spokesperson added.
