The combination of increased liquefied natural gas exports and muted growth in the supply of natural gas could push electricity prices up significantly in the US this summer, according to a new Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) report.

In its annual summer energy market and reliability assessment, FERC said natural gas prices this summer “are expected to rise at nearly every major trading hub across the US” when compared to the summer of 2021.
