The US is set to become the world’s largest exporter of liquefied natural gas in 2023 with output set to jump by 11% when full capacity is restored to the Freeport LNG project in Texas.

In its latest REview outlook, Rystad Energy says US exports of LNG will outpace those of current top exporters Qatar and Australia by more than 10 million tonnes next year.

Demand for LNG is expected to remain strong in Europe after a surge in imports this year, and with Asian deliveries returning to growth after a sluggish 2022, analysts are expecting a tight LNG market throughout 2023 and potentially beyond.
