Federal regulators are putting pressure on US liquefaction giant Cheniere Energy to provide key information about a fire that occurred earlier this month at its flagship Sabine Pass liquefied natural gas export terminal in Louisiana, including why it has chosen a member of its own team to carry out an investigation of the incident.

The fire occurred 11 October on a piece of equipment within a thermal oxidizer on Train 1 at the terminal, a Cheniere spokesperson said.
