Cheniere Energy has firmed up an equity finance deal with private equity giant Blackstone..

Two Blackstone funds will invest $1.5 billion in spin-off Cheniere Energy Partners, which is pursuing an export project at its Sabine Pass LNG terminal.

Charif Souki-led Cheniere Energy will invest $500 million in its subsidiary, a move helped  by a recent investment by two Asian financial firms.

Blackstone Capital Partners and  Blackstone Capital Partners will receive 100 million class B shares in the spin-off, while Cheniere Energy will get 33 million, at a price of $15 apiece.
