A conference due to take place on 29 January, organised by the North Sea industry group Oil & Gas UK, has had its venue cancelled.

The property owners, the Royal College of General Practitioners. Doctors declared the building should not be used by organisations that “threaten public health by promoting the use of fossil fuels.”

Industry may shrug this off as grandstanding by misguided professionals, but it is just the latest incident where Big Oil is sliding into the territory of Big Tobacco with its social licence to operate severely under threat.
