Kvaerner has forged a strategic alliance with hydrogen specialist Nel to develop green hydrogen production facilities as part of the Norwegian contractor’s diversification into the renewables business.
The pair said in a joint statement that they intend to “collaborate on specific green hydrogen projects and standardisation of solutions for large-scale hydrogen production plants” under the newly minted pact.
The companies have already started joint work to develop a standardised 20-megawatt hydrogen production module that could serve as a building block for plants of several hundred megawatts and have identified a range of potential projects for application of the technology.
