The French supermajor confirmed an incident happened at 12:15 UK time on Sunday afternoon at the Elgin production utilities quarters (PUQ) platform.

The jack-up Rowan Viking was alongside the facility on the high-pressure, high-temperature development at the time of the release.
“A well control problem occurred on the wellhead platform on the Elgin PUQ resulting in a gas release.
