As part of the cabinet reshuffle, Gabriel Mbega Obiang Lima will head the Ministry of Mines, Industry and Energy. His predecessor, Marcelino Owono Edu, goes to the Ministry of Finance and Budgets.
Lima previously held the role of delegate minister of the MMIE but is well-known around the world as being the government’s voice in oil and gas issues.
Meanwhile, the country’s defence and state security portfolio has been entrusted to Obiang Nguema Mangue, who leaves his post as Minister of Agriculture and Forestry.
