The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has announced that director general Ingrid Solvberg will be leaving the regulatory watchdog for resource management on the Norwegian continental shelf.

Vaar Energi, which is a joint venture between Eni and Hitec Vision, announced on Monday that Solvberg would join the company as senior vice president for technology, drilling and subsurface.

Before her career with NPD, Solvberg held positions with Centrica and Statoil (now Equinor).

Vaar Energi has also hired Atle Reinseth to its management team with responsibility for project development and supply chain management.

Reinseth, who was Equinor’s vice president for project development, also worked for Acergy, now part of Subsea 7.

Chief executive Torger Rod said: “We have set a goal to become a net producer of 350,000 barrels of oil and gas per day by the end of 2025, focusing on safe, more efficient, and sustainable operations.”

The current organisational structure and management team will remain in place until the new structure is implemented, which is expected to be completed within the fourth quarter this year.

"It’s all about people, competence and preparing for the future. The changes we have now announced will enable our organization to work more easily and efficiently, and thereby increase our overall productivity," Rod said.
