The survey covered 974 square kilometres of the basin using the Polarcus Asima vessel.
3D Oil said the survey took just over one month to complete and shored up some leads in the Otway gas fields.
It will take several months for the data to be processed and interpreted to assess the geology and prospectivity of the area.
3D Oil expects the results to be ready by the middle of next year.
