The London-listed explorer said it has struck further lightoil shows at the Simrit-2 exploration well in Kurdistan after deepening thewell.
Previously Afren and operator Hunt Oil Middle East hadestimated that there were 409 metres of net oil pay at the well as it wasdrilled to 3700 metres, intersecting the Cretaceous, Jurassic and Triassiczones.
The pair decided to deepen the well a further 100 metres andhave now boosted the net oil pay estimate to 460 metres.
