The engineering group has spent the past two years developing a pre-FEED floater concept for the remote oilfield, working closely with Statoil to cut costs to make the project viable.
From an initial price tag of Nkr100 billion ($12.03 billion today), including a semi-submersible platform with a Nkr10 billion pipeline to shore, Statoil now has a budget of Nkr50 billion to Nkr60 billion for an FPSO-based development of Johan Castberg with offshore export.
