The 18-member panel is tasked with providing an advisory role in three major areas regarding oil sands production: implementing legislated emissions limits,investing in technology to reduce emissions intensity, and developing systems to address local and regional environmental concerns.
The group draws its membership from the oil and gas industry,green groups and indigenous and non-indigenous communities. Members are expected to engage "more broadly" with their respective sectors to enhance panel discussions.
